VISIT TO OYIBI COMMUNITY

INTRODUCTION

Generally, the visit to the community was successful and very fruitful as many interesting events unfolded. Emissaries present were: Isaac Manu, Ernest Ayensu, Oteng Yaw Aboagye, Janet Impraim, Richard Ayensu, Razak Hamidu, Dorcas Ahenkorah, and Afua Ankomaa Odoom. The team took off from Katamanso at around 8:15 am on Saturday, 7th October, 2023, and arrived at Oyibi around 9:20 am. We were warmly welcomed by the people of the Oyibi community led by Mr Kumii who was patiently seated waiting for us.

ACTIVITIES

  • Mr. Ernest Ayensu spoke on behalf of the team about our mission and vision as an organization. They were so happy to hear the good tidings we brought, especially the renewals of the NHIS cards.
  • Janet Impraim and Afua Ankomaa Odoom began the renewals of the NHIS cards while we waited for the NHIS officials.
  • NHIS officials arrived and took over the new registration and renewal processes.
  • Drinks were shared with all present including the NHIS officials.
  • All emissaries assisted with the organization and the coordination of the program.

An amount of Ghc 7,070 was spent on the project.

CHALLENGES

The major challenge was that, from the beginning of the registrations, the beneficiaries were not many hence the team had to incur the extra cost of fueling the NHIS vehicle, which had horns to roam through the town to announce our presence for them to come and do the registration. Also, there was a light out at around 3:30 pm therefore the process had to be truncated and those affected had their details taken for later processing at the NHIS office, this also added additional cost.

CONCLUSION

The people of Oyibi were excited and the emissaries also enjoyed themselves. May the good Lord bless us all for remembering the Oyibi community. If they say a prayer, they will surely say one for us.  May God bless us all. Long live PSF!
